As expected, the industrial sector is booming, and attendees noted that office brokerage is gaining momentum as employees return to the office. While labor shortages—including highly specialized labor—and higher construction prices are prevalent across all sectors of the industry, they are expected to normalize; capital is flowing! Based on business transacted in the preceding 60 days, the optimism in the room was palpable.

Young Voices in Real Estate: A Conversation with the SIOR European Regional Chapter

At a time of technological, environmental, and societal transformation, it has never been more important to inspire the next generation to join the real estate sector. During a recent event, over 30 participants heard from panelists Laurie Tylenda, SIOR; Nancy Zuniga Ruiz; Claudia Harley; Joanna Lewandowska; and moderator Sophie Eastwood, about their experiences in real estate. While the panelists agree that they love the industry, they would like to see more visibility and promotion of the sector, the vast opportunities and experiences it offers, and the value it adds. These sentiments echo the results of a survey conducted by Young Entrepreneurs in Property, where an overwhelming 91% of respondents indicated that there needs to be a stronger emphasis in encouraging the younger generation into joining the real estate profession. The survey also noted that the best ways to tap younger audiences was through engagement at the secondary school and university levels along with increased promotion of how the real estate industry benefits society.
