Michael J. McCabe, SIOR, joined Coldwell Banker Commercial in Reno as Senior Vice President & Principal in February of 2012. He works in all areas of commercial real estate but continues to focus in his primary area of expertise, industrial real estate.
A 50+ year resident of the Reno-Sparks area, he brings more than 30 years of Industrial Real Estate experience to the Coldwell Banker Commercial team, including expertise in industrial development, and third-party logistics operations.
McCabe came to Coldwell Banker Commercial from Colliers in Reno where he was Senior Vice President of the Industrial Group for over 3 years. Prior to that he was with Dermody Properties /DP Partners in Reno, where he worked for more than four years as vice president of leasing and client solutions for the nationwide development company. He was responsible for overseeing DP’s portfolio of 12.5 million square feet of industrial space in Northern Nevada. Under his stewardship in the three years leading up to DP’s 2007 portfolio sale, the Reno leasing team consummated over 250 leasing transactions totaling space commitments of approximately 6.5 million square feet.
Prior to joining DP, McCabe had a 17-year career with ODC Integrated Logistics, which merged during his tenure with Ozburn-Hessey Logistics. His success in marketing, sales, transportation, real estate site selection, lease administration and warehouse operations led him in 2002 to be named executive vice president of business development for the national third-party logistics company. McCabe’s extensive industrial real estate and logistics experience dates back to his 11-year stint with Pacific Freeport Group, where he was president and chief operating officer of the industrial real estate development firm based in Sparks, Nev.
McCabe is a product of Reno schools and is a graduate of the University of Nevada with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He has been a licensed U.S. Customhouse Broker since 1978, has been an active member of CSCMP/CLM since 1978 and a member of the Warehousing Education and Research Council since 1989. He is also a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), including the Northern Nevada Chapter of SIOR.
Active in Community affairs, McCabe is a past board member of the Dermody Properties Foundation benefiting disadvantaged children and families in the Truckee Meadows. He served as Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the City of Sparks Planning Commission and as Vice Chairman of the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission. In addition he has been acknowledged as a 25-yr member of the Reno Elks Club, he’s served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Reno Sparks Chamber of Commerce acting as its’ Vice President of Legislative Affairs and he spent five years on the Board of Trustees for the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority as its Treasurer, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the board overseeing operations of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
In 2008, McCabe was elected to the Board of Directors of the Reno Air Race Association which is responsible for producing the Reno Championship Air Races in Reno each year and was elected in 2012 to serve on its’ Executive Committee as Second Vice Chairman, and most recently he was elected to the Board of Directors of Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, where both he and his children attended.
