SIOR Announces Inaugural CREate 360 Conference

Categories:

- Rebranded Fall Conference to be held virtually, October 21-23, 2020 -

October 24, 2020 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors® (SIOR), the world’s leading commercial real estate association, is proud to announce that its newly rebranded annual fall conference, CREate 360, will be held virtually October 21-23, 2020.

In light of the pandemic environment, CREate 360 was redesigned for 2020 as a fully virtual experience, while still offering the unmatched networking and knowledge-sharing experience the global conferences are known for. This online global event brings Commercial Real Estate (CRE) professionals at all levels together for a high-level view of the industrial and office real estate landscape as it stands today, while the world wrangles with a pandemic. No other CRE event offers such incredible access to a group of industry experts, eager to answer the toughest questions about what’s affecting the CRE community today, and what tomorrow may bring, while also providing unparalleled collaborative opportunities.

This year’s conference includes some of the most high profile speakers in the history of SIOR’s annual conferences. Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Former CEO of Ford Motor Company Alan Mullaly, and award-winning Broadway star Leslie Odom Jr. will be guest speakers for this year’s virtual event.

“This year’s CREate 360 conference couldn’t come at a better time,” says SIOR Global President Mark Duclos, SIOR, CRE, FRICS. “SIOR has always been known for our incredible collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking. With so much uncertainty, this is the perfect opportunity to connect with outstanding CRE professionals from all over the world to see what’s working, collaborate on deals, and find support from the most successful brokers in the industry.”

Media may only attend the daily breakout and Lunch & Learn sessions, held at various times, October 21-23. Media can also speak with individual SIOR leadership and members to gain a clear understanding of today’s rapidly changing CRE landscape, hear what trends are emerging, and how the pandemic’s impact varies from one region to another. The following sessions are open to the media:

October 21

1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. – Beyond the Pandemic - What's Next for Industrial in a Post-COVID World – The time for planning a post-pandemic world is now. As economies and industries around the world faced the shock wave effects of COVID-19, the industrial real estate sector reacted with mixed effects. Using the data and reports gathered through the course of the pandemic, the SIOR Industrial Member Group will be joined by cross-industry expert panelists to tackle this question and more at CREate 360.

1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. – Tips from the Top Office Deal Makers – This panel discussion features SIOR office dealmakers and their perspectives on how to earn and win business, continue to grow professionally, and how being an SIOR has helped accomplish that.

October 22

12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. - Lunch & Learn - Creative Strategies for Adaptive Reuse - Join the SIOR Investment Member Group for this panel discussion on adaptive re-use. Panelists will discuss how to identify a redevelopment opportunity and the steps to take to reposition and rebrand the real estate to conform to a new use and likely a new target market. Panelists will discuss overall trends but will drill down into specific projects and what made them successful after a redevelopment.

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. – BizDev Hacks for Tenant Rep & Corporate Services – Corporate Services, when correctly implemented, can result in profitable repeat business from corporate clients ranging from local and regional to national opportunities. A panel of top brokers will discuss how their firms align themselves with corporate clients to create a symbiotic relationship. These brokers will reveal how they identify the clients they pursue and win.

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Making the Most of Sale/Leasebacks – This session will cover ways to monetize and capitalize real estate with OPM (other people’s money). Panelists will discuss the current trends of Sale/Leasebacks. Because there are many different underwriting models, each panelist will bring different experiences that will provide attendees various ideas and different perspectives.

October 23

11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Modern Warehouse Design: The Evolving Dynamics of Ecommerce and Why the Future is UP - In the post pandemic era, this asset class is widely anticipated to explode, driven largely by fast growing e-commerce dynamics.Accelerated delivery of goods within the same or a 2-day timeframe has become the industry norm and requires one key logistical challenge for companies: location. With a lack of infill land, multistory warehousing is clearly becoming the answer for urban industrial. Ware Malcomb will provide insight on today's modern design and how it will shape the future of last mile logistics.
