In honor of one of SIOR’s core founding principles—to serve the greater good—SIOR will continue its annual day of charity and philanthropy called "SIOR Service Day." On this day, SIOR Chapters and members are encouraged to generously volunteer their time or financial support to non-profit organizations that impact the greater good.
SIOR was founded in 1941, a direct result of the WWII effort. In December of 1941, the United States was pulled into a global conflict and needed to quickly acquire warehouses and factories to produce supplies for the war effort. In that regard, the government turned to a trusted group of industrial real estate practitioners who embarked on what was perhaps the single most important commercial real estate assignment in the history of our great nation. As a result, SIR (now SIOR) was born.
SIOR Service Day is May 8, the day that World War II ended in Europe (VE or Victory-Europe Day) and strives to continue our rich legacy of making a difference and positively impacting our communities.
