SIOR Global President's Message

Last year will go down as a memorable year for all of us, to say the very least. It was filled with challenge, change, and opportunity. I am sure I speak for all of us when I say it was nice to see New Year’s Eve 2020, because it allowed us to “turn the page.”

Despite a moment of looking like its predecessor, 2021 has provided us the proverbial “light at the end of the tunnel.” As it relates to SIOR, that light is clearly the sun! Lots of good things continue to happen for SIOR, not the least of which is the hiring of our new CEO.

I could not be happier to introduce Robert Thornburgh, SIOR, as our new CEO. Those who have had the opportunity to spend time with Robert have seen first-hand his passion for this organization, his knowledge of the industry, and his commitment to integrity, excellence, and innovation. Robert has already imposed his presence on a number of SIOR initiatives for 2021, with immediate impact. We all look forward to experiencing his impact for years to come.

With that, I want to take this opportunity to thank Craig Meyer, SIOR, for his dedication as chair of the SIOR CEO Search Committee, and his fellow committee members. Craig’s leadership and the team’s commitment were instrumental in the success of our search for a new CEO. I also want to thank our past CEO, Tom McCormick, SIOR, for his guidance and loyalty to our great organization over the past two years.

Quick reminder that TransACT 360 is right around the corner! If you have not signed up, it’s time! Featured speakers are Duke University head men’s basketball coach, Mike Krzyzewski (“Coach K”), and former United States Secretary of State, Colin Powell.
