Trustee Spotlight: David Hagan, SIOR, CCIM
David Hagan, SIOR, CCIM, has been an SIOR Foundation Trustee since 2011. This past October, he took over the reins of the Foundation as its President. Prior to becoming President, he served as Vice President and President-Elect. David also served on many committees, including the Grant and Scholarships committee and most recently, the PR and Programs committee.
Hagan is a Senior Vice President/Brokerage Services with CBRE Inc. in Greensboro, NC. Prior to joining CBRE in April 2014, Hagan delivered a full spectrum of commercial real estate services representing tenants, buyers, landlords and sellers at the firm he founded in 1989 – Hagan Properties Incorporated.
On his term as president, which runs through October 2017, David has said that “I, along with my fellow Foundation executives, Bill Ginder, SIOR, CCIM, Aaron Barnard, SIOR, CCIM, and Stan Kleweno, have inherited a proud legacy and have a duty to nurture what we have been given. My goal for the Foundation during my term will be to make more direct charitable investments to elevate the commercial real estate community. More specifically, I want to leverage the investments the Foundation is making in college students by challenging the recipient schools to match our gifts. Our college students are the future of commercial real estate and richly deserve our encouragement and support. Through our ongoing concerted efforts, we will continue to educate, enhance and expand the commercial real estate community for the benefit of future generations and, by doing so, will honor the Legacy that has been entrusted to our care.”
During David’s term, the SIOR Foundation plans to award grants totaling $162,000. Funds are distributed as matching scholarships with Chapters and in programs such as the Student Real Estate Experience Program, SIOR Report Authors Grant, SIOR Speaker Grants and research grants. The charitable giving supports students enrolled in college undergraduate and graduate real estate studies and in pursuit of degrees associated with commercial real estate. Participating colleges have included the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Connecticut, Clemson University, Northwestern University, York University (Canada), UCLA, USC and many others.
