About

John W. B. McDaniel, SIOR, Senior Vice President. With over 30 years of commercial real estate experience, John has had vast responsibilities in a number of areas including strategic planning, site selection, brokerage, project management, and move coordination. His day to day interaction with clients at all levels of the corporate spectrum have proven his aptitude and his ability to perform. John has represented a number of Forbes 1000 clients in many facets of the real estate and facilities business providing a full range of services. His assignments have included build to suit projects, corporate headquarters, facilities, regional locations, as well as field locations across the US and abroad in Eastern Europe and Asia. John’s bi-lateral experience with tenants and Landlords has given him an edge in negotiations and presentation of transactions.

As a fifth generation Texan and 4 deep in the Permian Basin, John’s ties to the Oil and Gas Industry run deep. His grandfather, Rupert P. Ricker, held the first leases on the University Lands which made possible the first well in the Permian, The Santa Rita. John’s experience with his family’s holdings has made him very well positioned to assist service companies and operators with their real estate needs. With the family ranch still intact, John frequently is in Reagan County on business and has a chance to enjoy the ranch as well. A graduate of Dallas Baptist University, John holds a degree in Business Management. He has done additional post- graduate work at Southern Methodist University. He is currently an SIOR Member and is working towards his CCIM accreditation. He has been married to Lucy, his high school sweetheart, for more than 35 years and they live in Dallas.

John entered the business with one of the largest retail real estate developers in Texas. There he represented private and institutional owners of all classes of retail properties including enclosed malls, strip centers, neighborhood centers and free-standing pad site locations. His responsibilities included the development of fully staffed experts providing all services for the properties, negotiating all business terms and leases, coordinating move-in schedules, as well as property management and lease administration.

Following an extended and successful career representing the Landlord, John switched “hats” and moved to the corporate real estate side. John was instrumental, while working at Pier 1 Imports, in developing a standardized presentation model for all new sites, relocations, and renewals. Additionally, John was responsible for rent reductions and Landlord contributions totaling in excess of $11,000,000 in the first two years in his position.

Lured away by Trammell Crow Company, John joined the Trammell Crow outsourcing team as a Portfolio Manager, responsible for all facets of real estate for Bank One. After a successful integration of all Bank One properties and also the integration of First Commerce Bank of New Orleans, John was transferred to Nationsbank to assist with the integration of the merger between entities of Nationsbank and Bank of America. After being nationally recognized by the CEO and President of NationsCredit for saving a great number of the bank’s assets from flood waters created by Hurricane Hugo in New York, John had an opportunity to join Starbuck’s Coffee Company.

At Starbucks, John was responsible for the continued operation, maintenance and selection of properties in 11 states from New Mexico to South Carolina. John was instrumental in the development of a national cleaning program, a national proprietary equipment maintenance program, and a number of other projects. He received the Bean Stock Bravo award, the java leadership award, and many other accolades during his tenure with Starbucks.
