John Buckel has been involved in commercial real estate for over thirty years and has participated in the development of nearly five million square feet of buildings valued at just over $500 million throughout California. Prior to co-founding Capital Partners Development Company in 2002, he was the partner for the San Francisco Bay Area region of the international commercial development firm, Panattoni Development Company and developed over one million square feet of commercial property with a value in excess of $100 million over a four-year period.

John has developed commercial projects of all types for both public- and private-sector clients for his company and on a consulting basis for other client companies specializing in the development of office and industrial/flex buildings. His responsibilities have included all aspects of the development process including:

- site location, master planning and due-diligence

- market assessment and economic analysis

- developing detailed, sustainable project specifications; translating them into project design

- assembling teams of architects/engineers and contractors based on project needs

- securing governmental entitlements

- arranging construction financing

- construction project management

- complex contract negotiations

- disposition of completed assets

- securing of long-term financing including bond financing

John is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and is a LEED® Accredited Professional of the U.S. Green Building Council. He is a frequent speaker and panelist on the topics of commercial development and sustainable building practices.
